Althea Vestrit

A sailor who has spent the trilogy fighting to reclaim Vivacia. Her final struggle is to retain trust in her own experience after Kennit assaults her and others refuse to believe her.

Brashen Trell

Captain of Paragon and Althea’s partner. His leadership matures into an ability to accept painful truth without trying to command another person’s recovery.

Paragon

A blind liveship carrying dragon memory, Ludluck family history and Kennit’s discarded childhood trauma. Becoming whole requires him to acknowledge rather than erase those conflicting selves.

Amber

Paragon’s carpenter and confidante. Her patient reconstruction of his figurehead helps the ship choose an identity not dictated by Igrot, Kennit or the Ludlucks.

Kennit

Pirate king, liberator of slaves, manipulator and rapist. His genuine political achievements coexist with cruelty the public legend never fully records.

Wintrow Vestrit

Former priest and slave who becomes Vivacia’s captain. He must act responsibly after discovering that gratitude and moral judgment can point in opposite directions.

Vivacia / Bolt

The liveship’s human and dragon identities. Their conflict raises the question of whether a being made from several kinds of memory can choose a shared future.

Etta

Kennit’s partner, once exploited in Divvytown and later queen of the Pirate Isles. Her pregnancy turns Kennit’s reputation into a political inheritance.

Malta Vestrit

A scarred survivor and increasingly formidable diplomat. Her earlier gift for performance develops into an ability to read power and negotiate under extreme pressure.

Reyn Khuprus

A Rain Wild Trader linked to Malta and Tintaglia. His physical transformation marks the return of the Elderlings and gives him a new public role.

Tintaglia

The last mature dragon, imperious and dependent on human aid. Her bargain with Bingtown makes the survival of dragons a political project.

Ronica and Keffria Vestrit

The family matriarch and her daughter. They help rebuild Bingtown while abandoning older assumptions about status, marriage and inherited authority.

Serilla

A Heart Companion who turns expertise and seized authority into Bingtown resistance. She must decide whether safety is possible without absolute control.

Satrap Cosgo

Jamaillia’s selfish ruler. His weakness makes him both a dangerous sovereign and a bargaining piece in the new political order.

Maulkin, Shreever and Carrion

Serpents whose struggle to reach the cocooning grounds determines whether Tintaglia will remain the only dragon of her age.
